Simi Fyda (Simona Fyda)

Simi Fyda is a Polish experimental artist whose work intersects sound and visual art to investigate themes of identity, transformation, and corporeality. Her debut album, Yuri (released via Enjoy Life), merged elements of dark ambient, post-industrial, and deconstructed club music into an intimate, contemplative work designed for deep listening. The album's seven tracks combined field recordings with dense, layered soundscapes, offering a highly personal meditation on transition and sound that invites individual interpretation.Yuri received attention from platforms such as NOODS Radio, NTS, Radio Kapitał, Ola Radio and Relativa Radio. In response to the album's reception, Simi released Yuri (The Remix Album), enlisting a diverse group of international collaborators, including Helen Island, Concepción Huerta, Lemta Toro and others, who each brought unique interpretations to the original tracks. This project expanded the themes of identity and transformation, offering new sonic perspectives while maintaining the core introspection of the debut. In addition to sound work, Simi is an active visual artist. Short films accompanying tracks such as "Lily" and "Bulk Soil", alongside paintings, performances and visuals, push the boundaries of bodily representation, engaging with questions of limitation and the act of being seen. Her octophonic composition for last year's edition Canti Spazializzati explores masochism as a tool of subversion and creation, transforming established power structures into affirmative processes of sublimation through eight-channel sound design. While creating this piece she was especially inspired by fragmentary networks, mechanical and organic rhythms, and irregular sonic spaces. The project is accompanied by a radio show of the same name on Radio Relativa.Currently developing her second album "Barren Girl", she explores neo-folk/spoken word/glitch fusion through a dreamlike excavation of intimacy, language, and soft power. The forthcoming record's lead single "Self Care With a Safe Word" demonstrates this evolved approach, mapping emotional vulnerability and compulsion through digital disruption and acoustic intimacy.
